Why the Samba took over
The Samba was originally designed for football in the 1950s, but became the most sought-after fashion piece of recent years. The secret: a low, clean silhouette, a cream gum sole, and the classic side T-stripes. They pair with almost any look – jeans, a short dress or joggers. The classic is black with white stripes, but the off-white and camel-brown versions are especially hot this season.
Choosing a pair and getting the size right
The Samba tends to run narrow and small – most buyers recommend sizing up half a size. Your foot should feel comfortable from the first wear, with no pressure at the toe. Check that review photos show straight stripes, a clean logo and an even cream-toned sole – signs of good quality. Note the upper: suede looks premium but needs care, while smooth leather is easier to clean.
